OWENS APPOINTS NEW MEMBERS TO THE PASSENGER TRAMWAY
SAFETY BOARD

(DENVER) – Gov. Bill Owens today announced the appointment of Brian G. McCartney of Vail and Alan J. Henceroth of Dillon to the Passenger Tramway Safety Board.

“We need dedicated people working to ensure the safety of our citizens,” said Owens.  “Throughout their professional careers, Brian McCartney and Alan Henceroth have demonstrated a commitment to public safety.  Both new members bring valuable assets that will benefit the Board.”

Brian McCartney is the Vice President of Vail Mountain Operations.  He has been employed with Vail Associates since 1973.  McCartney is Treasurer of the National Avalanche Foundation and a forensic expert in ski litigation.  He is affiliated with Colorado Ski Country U.S.A., the National Ski Association, the National Ski Patrol, and the Professional Ski Instructors of America.

Alan Henceroth is the Director of Mountain Operations at Arapahoe Basin Ski Area.  A graduate of Northern Arizona University with a degree in forest management, Henceroth has published several works on both mountain safety and the environment.  Henceroth serves on the Operations Committee of Colorado Ski Country U.S.A., on the Board of Team Summit, and on the Advisory Committee on Explosives and Avalanche Control of the Colorado Department of Labor.

The Passenger Tramway Safety Board makes rules and regulations for the construction, operation, maintenance, and inspection of all aerial tramways and surface lifts, including ski lifts and tourist rides.

There are seven members of the Board, six of whom are appointed by the Governor.  Members serve four-year terms and do not require Senate confirmation.
