OWENS APPOINTS KURT L. KOFFORD TO THE STATE BOARD OF ACCOUNTANCY
(DENVER) – Gov. Bill Owens today announced the appointment of Kurt L. Kofford of Colorado Springs to the State Board of Accountancy.
“Throughout his professional career, Kurt Kofford has been a leader in the accounting profession,” said Owens. “His extensive knowledge and organizational abilities make him well suited to carrying out the important mission of the Board of Accountancy.”
Kofford is currently the Director and Chief Operating Officer of BiggsKofford, P.C, a certified public accounting firm located in Colorado Springs. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Brigham Young University. Kofford has been employed as an accountant and auditor since 1980. He is active in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants. Kofford serves on the Board of Directors for the Boy Scouts of America (Pikes Peak Council).
The State Board of Accountancy regulates public accountants, reviewing applications, giving examinations, granting certificates and permits, and acting on complaints against certified public accountants. The seven board members serve four-year terms and do not require Senate confirmation.
